Ronald A. Malt (November 12, 1931 – October 5, 2002) was an American clinical surgeon and teacher at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and Harvard Medical School for over 40 years. Born in Pittsburgh, Malt attended Washington University and Harvard Medical School. Best known for his role as the chief surgical medical resident who oversaw the world's first successful reattachment of a human limb, Malt also developed new techniques in gastrointestinal surgery, was professor of surgery at Harvard University, co-edited The Oxford Textbook of Surgery and was an associate editor at The New England Journal of Medicine.
