La vokmaniero Taŭmaturgaj reĝoj estis kunigita al la francaj reĝoj kaj al la anglaj reĝoj, al kiuj, ĝis almenaŭ la fino la duono de la 18-a jarcento, estis populare atribuitaj sanigajn povojn ŝuldeblajn al la dia naturo de la reĝeco. (eo) Toque real es una forma de imposición de manos con fines curativos que realizaban los reyes de Francia y de Inglaterra del Antiguo Régimen. Se creía que su coronación les confería el poder taumatúrgico de curar a sus súbditos, sin distinción de condiciones sociales, de algunas enfermedades específicas, principalmente la escrófula o "mal del rey" (King's Evil, linfadenitis tuberculosa cervical o adenita tubercular -historia de la tuberculosis-), una enfermedad que raramente es mortal, y que remite espontáneamente con relativa frecuencia, lo que facilitaba atribuir su curación a la intervención real (más allá de los posibles efectos de la curación por la fe). El uso político de esta ceremonia suponía una legitimación del poder real, especialmente al comienzo de un reinado o el estableciemiento de una nueva dinastía. (es) The royal touch (also known as the king's touch) was a form of laying on of hands, whereby French and English monarchs touched their subjects, regardless of social classes, with the intent to cure them of various diseases and conditions. The thaumaturgic touch was most commonly applied to people suffering from tuberculous cervical lymphadenitis (better known as scrofula or the King's Evil), and exclusively to them from the 16th century onwards. The disease rarely resulted in death and often went into remission on its own, giving the impression that the monarch's touch cured it. The claimed power was most notably exercised by monarchs who sought to demonstrate the legitimacy of their reign and of their newly founded dynasties.
