Bei den Weltmeisterschaften 2007 in Osaka schied er in der Qualifikation aus. 2008 wurde er Siebter bei den Hallenweltmeisterschaften in Valencia, kam aber bei den Olympischen Spielen in Peking ebenso wenig über die erste Runde hinaus wie bei den Weltmeisterschaften 2009 in Berlin. 2010 wurde er ursprünglich Achter bei den Hallenweltmeisterschaften in Doha, rückte jedoch durch die nachträgliche Disqualifikation von Andrej Michnewitsch und Pawel Lyschyn auf den sechsten Platz vor. Im selben Jahr gewann er im australischen Cairns die Ozeanienmeisterschaften im Kugelstoßen. Bei den Olympischen Spielen in London 2012 konnte er sich nicht für die Finalrunde qualifizieren. 2004, 2005 und 2006 wurde er nationaler Meister im Diskuswurf, 2006 und 2010 im Kugelstoßen. Scott Martin ist 1,90 m groß und wiegt 130 kg. Er wird von Gus Puopolo trainiert und startet für den Ringwood Athletics Club. He rose to prominence in a National Australia Bank advertisement promoting the 2006 Commonwealth Games; in the ad, Martin was shown taking part in a ballet class to improve his discus technique. He won a bronze medal in the men's shot put at the Games, and won gold in the men's discus throw. Scott Martin is currently the Australian and Oceania record holder with a throw of 21.26 metres in the Melbourne leg of the World Athletics Tour meeting in February 2008. He beat the previous record held by Justin Anlezark at 20.96 metres. In addition he is the 2006 Australian Shot Put champion, and he is a three-time discus champion (2004–06). Martin is currently managed by the Australian arm of Athletes1, whose Director is Rick Olarenshaw. He competed at the 2008 Beijing Olympics in the shot put and 2012 London Olympics at the discus but failed to progress beyond the qualifying stage on both occasions.
