South Island bildet den Südwestrand des Atolls, daher ist sie sehr gebogen. Während die Meeresseite eher gerade ist, durchgängig aus Strand besteht und nach einigen Metern steil abfällt, ist die Lagunenseite verzweigt und fällt nur sehr flach ab.
