سهير القلماوي (ولدت في 20 يوليو 1911- توفيت في 4 مايو 1997) كانت علامة أدبية وسياسية بارزة مصرية وهي من شكلت الكتابة والثقافة العربية من خلال كتابتها والحركة النسوية والمناصرة. كانت من السيدات الأوليات اللواتي ارتدن جامعة القاهرة وفي عام 1941 أصبحت أول امرأة مصرية حصلت على الماجستير والدكتوراه في الآداب لأعمالها في الأدب العربي. بعد التخرج، عينتها الجامعة كأول مُحاضِرة تشغل هذا المنصب. كانت أيضاً من أوائل السيدات اللائي شغلن منصب الرؤساء من ضمن ذلك رئيسة قسم اللغة العربية في جامعة القاهرة ورئيسة الاتحاد النسوي المصري ورئيسة رابطة خريجات جامعة المرأة العربية. نُشرت كتابتها التي تتضمن مجلدين من قصص قصيرة وعشرة دراسات نقدية والعديد من ترجمات عالم الأدب (أحاديث جدتي) نشر عام 1935.

Elle façonne l'écriture et la culture arabe à travers ses textes, son activisme féministe et ses différents plaidoyers. Suhayr al-Qalamawi est l'une des premières femmes à fréquenter l'université du Caire. En 1941, elle devient la première femme égyptienne à obtenir une maîtrise et un doctorat pour ses travaux en littérature arabe. Une fois diplômée, elle intègre le corps professoral de l'université en tant que première maîtresse de conférences. Elle est également l'une des premières femmes égyptiennes à occuper un certain nombre de postes, notamment celui de présidente du département de langue arabe de l'université du Caire et présidente de l'Union féministe égyptienne. Dopo la laurea fu assunta dall'università come prima docente donna. La Al-Qalamawi è stata anche una delle prime donne a ricoprire un certo numero di incarichi direttivi, tra cui il presidente del dipartimento arabo dell'Università del Cairo, presidente dell'Unione femminista egiziana e presidente della Lega delle donne arabe laureate.
