Tymczasem Rincewind, przez przypadek wysłany z Kontynentu Przeciwwagi (Ciekawe czasy) na współczesne Czteriksy nękany przez gadającego kangura Skoczka stara się za wszelką cenę nie ratować świata. Ostatecznie jednak doprowadza do pierwszych w historii XXXX opadów deszczu, które ratują kontynent przed suszą.
