Het project had te lijden onder vertragingen in het ontwerp en de bouw, en van de concessies die Tucker moest doen om toch de productie op gang te krijgen. Dit effect werd versterkt door de media, waardoor Tucker ook problemen kreeg met het verkrijgen van de financiën. Preston Tucker werd zelfs aangeklaagd wegens fraude, maar werd in een rechtszaak vrijgesproken. Um dos exemplas construídos e encontrado num galpão no estado americano de Ohio, em 2016, foi avaliado para leilão em R$ 10 milhões. Em 2015, um colecionador, que adquiriu um chassi original num leilão da massa falida da Tucker Car Corporation, completou a montagem do automóvel com peças sobressalentes e partes de outras unidades danificadas por acidente, tornando-se assim a 52º unidade fabricada do Tucker 48.
