Blackpool regained the lead after the break as David Vaughan hooked in from a goalmouth scramble before Seamus Coleman's low shot levelled the score. Everton's Louis Saha dragged a shot wide and Marlon Harewood was denied a dramatic winner late on for a push. Blackpool boss Ian Holloway said last week he was dreaming of Champions League football and after his side squandered the lead on two occasions the emotional manager will be unhappy not to have secured all the spoils as they continue to impress in the Premier League. Holloway delighted with vital home points The Tangerines were up against an improving Everton side, now unbeaten in six, and although Holloway's men struggled with possession at times, a draw was deserved and only a questionable call from referee Andre Marriner in the dying seconds prevented the victory. In the first league fixture between these sides since 1971, the Bloomfield Road crowd witnessed a pretty uninspiring opening but things changed dramatically when Charlie Adam picked up the ball in midfield after 10 minutes. 606: DEBATE Good game with two footballing sides Everton having most of the chances but fluffing their lines somewhat mindofmoyes Mikel Arteta sensed the danger for the visitors outside the box but he could only hack down Adam, still playing despite a bonus dispute with his employers. Scottish midfielder Adam however handed duties over to defender Eardley who curled in a delightful direct free-kick from 30 yards on the day he was also celebrating his 22nd birthday. Only three minutes later the visitors were level. Sylvain Distin and Yakubu exchanged neat passes on the left leaving the sprightly Nigerian to cross over for Cahill to leap brilliantly and nod powerfully past the home side's goalkeeper Matthew Gilks. Having started October at the bottom of the table the Toffees had secured three victories and a draw before Saturday's trip to Blackpool and their equaliser injected fresh belief that another three points were within their grasp. Steven Pienaar and Leighton Baines were menacing down the left side with Cahill and Yakubu foiled by an increasingly desperate defence. The chances kept coming and in the final stages of the first period, Coleman went close to scoring against the side that took him on loan last season with a long-range shot and then a fine volley from the edge of the box. Thanks to some late lunging tackles by Evatt and Craig Cathcart, the Tangerines held on and immediately after the break their efforts were rewarded when they regained the lead. Missed chances frustrate Moyes As the Everton defence dithered with several chances to clear the danger on the six-yard line, a mis-timed DJ Campbell shot fell to Vaughan whose second shot was hooked in. After conceding one goal in five games, keeper Tim Howard was picking the ball out of the Merseysiders' net twice in less than an hour. Blackpool's lead lasted even less than their opening goal and it arrived after a sloppy header by Stephen Crainey on the right. Coleman was swiftly on to the ball and the 22-year-old Irishman burst through to bury the leveller underneath the body of Gilks. Substitute Matt Phillips and Adam both had great chances to get Blackpool ahead again but Everton always threatened and Saha dragged the ball wide when hassled by Evatt, followed by Pienaar going close with a scuffed shot. In stoppage time it seemed the home side had nabbed the winner when Harewood slotted in but the whistle had gone for a push on the halfway line. Blackpool boss Ian Holloway: "I was pleased with my team and it looks like we're getting to grips with this league. It's wonderful to see us play that well against Everton. Everton manager David Moyes: "In the last 10 to 15 minutes Blackpool put us under pressure. We showed a lot of character but we started badly. We made the wrong decision too many times."
