Yang finishes on top in Grand Final on 2008 Asian Tour

Yang Chin-shun from Taiwan won the Guinness Asian 9-ball Tour Grand Final.

In the final he beat two-time world champion Wu Chia-ching (Taiwan) 11-9 to claim the 36,000firstprize.Wureceived36,000 first prize. Wu received 36,000firstprize.Wureceived10,000 for second place. The two Filipinos Dennis Orcollo and Alex Pagulayan shared third place.

This was Yang's seventh win on the Asian Tour but first since the 2007 Singapore event. He's been to nine finals in total. That's one third of the 27 events ever held.

Chang Jung-lin was the defending champion and ranking leader going into the event. He went out in the group stages after two wins and two losses.

The event was held 24-26 October at the Mal Taman Anggrek, Jakarta, Indonesia. It was the sixth and final event of the season. Only the top 11 players in the rankings were invited.

Chang wins inaugural Asian Tour Grand Final

Taiwan's Jung-Lin Chang won the first ever Guinness Asian 9-ball Tour Grand Final.

In the final he beat Lee Vann Corteza (Philippines) 11-8 to claim the 36,000firstprize.Cortezareceived36,000 first prize. Corteza received 36,000firstprize.Cortezareceived10,000 for second place. Chang's two countrymen Chia-Ching Wu and Ching-shun Yang shared third place.

This was Chang's third win of the season. He also won the events in Jakarta and Malaysia. With Yang winning three legs as well, Taiwanese players have made a clean sweep this season.

The event was held August 31 - September 2 at the Grand Hyatt Bali, Bali, Indonesia. It was the sixth and final event of the season.

Chang on top in Jakarta leg of Asian Tour

Taiwan's Jung-lin Chang won the opening leg of the Guinness Asian 9-ball Tour.

In the final he beat Filipino Lee Vann Corteza 11-5 to claim the trophy and $15,000.

Defending champion Efren Reyes (Philippines) and several other stars are boycotting the Tour because San Miguel was dropped as tour sponsor.

The competition was held April 20-22 at the Sultan Hotel, Jakarta, Indonesia. Next stop is Kaohsiung, Taiwan on May 18-20. There are a total of six events in the Tour. The top 10 finishers in the Order of Merit will earn spots in the 2007 World Pool Championship.

Efren Reyes wins final event of Asian Tour season

Efren Reyes (Philippines) won the Indonesia leg of the San Miguel Asian 9-ball Tour. In the final he defeated local player Ricky Yang 11-7 to claim the $10,000 first prize.

This completed a Philippine sweep on the Tour. Efren Reyes won in Vietnam, Ramil Gallego won in Thailand and Rodolfo Luat won in Taiwan.

The tournament was played in Mutiara Ballroom, Jakarta 15-17 September.

The top 10 finishers in the Order of Merit earned spots in the 2006 World Pool Championship. Reyes tops the list. Here are all the qualifiers:
