Miners' Officials Fly To Czechoslovakia
Mr. Arthur Horner, secretary of the National Union of Mineworkers, and Mr. Tom Stephenson, secretary of the Cumberland miners, left Northolt airport to-day in a Czech airliner to Prague.
"We are going to Czechoslovakia to make arrangements for the transfer of money donated by Czech miners for the dependents of the 104 British miners who were killed in theWhitehaven disaster in August, 1947," said Mr. Horner.
"This money, about £40,000, was voted by Czech miners, and there has been some delay in arranging the transfer. I don't intend to bring it back in cash — it will be done through the bank.
