Forgetful Loneliness
She’d like to say that her relationship with Kennedy is about nothing more than the two of them. That it’s real and substantive and built on honesty. But it’s not. It’s mostly about The First and giving everyone a reason to trust her by not having to worry that she is still lonely and grieving over Tara. Which she is, not that there’s anyone she can talk to about it. Bringing up Tara makes everyone nervous, reminds them all that Willow was once a black-haired uber-witch bent on ending the world. There’s no room for her to grieve, to deal with her loss. She accepts that, figuring she forfeited the right to sympathy and space to mourn when she tried to kill all her friends and vaporize the planet. And Kennedy’s a good enough kid. Brash and cocky and completely unlike Tara. Which is good. She’s also a pretty amazing lover. Which is also good. Because when Willow’s biting her lip to stifle her screams of ecstasy, at least for a moment she forgets that she’s still so lonely.
