Career Highlights

Getting into the Business:

Marty Lunde’s first match was a losing effort against “Bullet” Bob Armstrong.
Marty Lunde teamed occassionally with Matt Borne amung others, but did not catch on then.
Marty Lunde then began wrestling in the Southeast as “Super Olympia”, tagging with Mr. Olympia (Jerry Stubbs).
~~~Marty and Jerry teamed together, masked and unmasked, and held the Southeastern Tag Titles together 3 times throughout 1984.
~~~Late 1984: Marty Lunde and Jerry Stubbs split up.
Arn Anderson joined the Tennessee Studs and teamed with Pat Rose to win the Southeastern Tag belts one more time.
Arn Anderson was part of the original Legion of Doom with Hawk, Animal, Jake Roberts and The Spoiler.

The National Wrestling Alliance – The Anderson Family:

1985-86: Anderson moved on, heading to Georgia (which was slowly merging with the Mid-Atlantic region to form WCW).
~~~Arn joined his “uncle” Ole Anderson, and after a short family feud, began teaming as the Minnesota Wrestling Crew.
Arn and Ole Anderson were a major factor in the birth of the Four Horsemen with Ric Flair, Tully Blanchard and JJ Dillon.
~~~Arn was dubbed the “Enforcer” of the Four Horsemen, always present during the entire duration of the factions existence.
July 6, 1985 – Great American Bash: Ole and Arn Anderson defeated Buzz Sawyer and Dick Slater.
November 28, 1985 – Starrcade: Ole and Arn Anderson defeated Wahoo McDaniel and Billy Jack Haynes.
January 4, 1986: Arn Anderson defeated Wahoo McDaniel (Tournament Final) to win the vacant NWA Television title.
July 5, 1986 – Great American Bash: Ole and Arn Anderson defeated Sam Houston and Nelson Royal.
July 26, 1986 – Great American Bash: The Rock and Roll Express vs Ole and Arn Anderson went to a draw.
September 9, 1986: Dusty Rhodes defeated Arn Anderson to win the NWA Television title.

Curt answered “It would be a privilege.” NOT “It would be an honor.” However, the quote, “It would be an honor.” happened the next week on Nitro, Sept 1, 1997, when the nWo spoofed the retirement. As a sidenote, Sean Waltmann (as Ric Flair), Konnan (as Mongo McMichael), Marcus Bagwell (as Curt Hennig), and Kevin Nash (as Arn Anderson), are not given credit on their respective bios for this spoof, which is regarded in some circles as one of the most disrespectful acts/shoots in wrestling history. Eric Bischoff stated that if he could take back any one act of the nWo, it would be the Arn Anderson spoof. Doing my part. Keep up the great work!
