Sompting Estate Home Page (original) (raw)

Sompting Estate comprises about 7 square kilometres of countryside in the heart of the Sussex Downs, between Worthing and Steyning, at the narrowest point of the South Downs National Park.

The Estate has been owned by the Crofts/Tristram family for over 250 years. You will find out more about the history of the Estate and the family here.

The Estate covers much of Sompting Parish and its vision is for Sompting to be a place where people and nature thrive. You can read more about how we are working that vision out on our Environment and Community pages, and elsewhere on this website.

There are two tenanted Farms, Lychpole and Upton, as well as Church Farm and Titch Hill Farm which are managed in-hand. In 2019 the Estate's first acreage of grape vines was planted. In addition there are small woodland areas managed and being expanded by our forestry contractor Andrew Cossar. The Estate includes a number of houses for farm-related and other tenants as well as a number of small business units. It's also developing a holidays business so more people can connect with the beauty of the Sompting downs.

The Managing Trustee is Mike Tristram, with Manager Alex Tristram. The estate office is located at Middle Yard Barn on Lambleys Lane, Worthing, BN14 9JX.
