For the 1910's/1920's player see Alec Gray
The former Northcote captain/coach also served as a councillor in the City of Northcote from <1928> to <1938>. He played in five premierships between <1928> and <1938>, captaining Northcote's <1936> premiership side. He coached amateur side State Savings Bank in <1940>. He was also principal of a successful real estate business.
Gray replaced Jack Chessell as Melbourne's club Secretary early in <1948> and served for two years. He was elected Mayor of Northcote in September <1948>.
His son Malcolm was president of the International Cricket Council from <2000> to <2003>.
