The former Western Australian police force tactical response group member debuted for West Coast in <1989>, and doon became one of their best players.

Turley finished second to Jim Stynes in the <1991> Brownlow Medal and was an All Australian that year. He played in a premiership for the Eagles in <1992> but retired midway through the next year when forced back to the after a knee injury. He was convinced to return in <1994>, but after playing in a premiership with West Perth in <1995>, Turley was swapped to Melbourne for Andy Lovell.

Turley played 16 games in his only year at the Demons, and finished in the top 10 of the Best and Fairest, but was troubled by injury and played most of the season until duress. During the <1997> pre-season he suffered a reoccurrence of a disc injury that first affected him in <1992>, and retired at 31 years old rather than rehabilitate the injury and attempt a comeback. After Round 3 his place on the senior list was taken by Nathan Bassett.

Turley rejoined West Perth for two games as a playing assistant coach in <2001>.
