With nothing left to play for the Redlegs only concern was to avoid being the first side all year to lose to North Melbourne. The Shinboners had been close on a number of occassions, but had never been able to break through for their debut victory.
For the second time during the season North had a lead at quarter time, though not as large as their Round 5 clash, but they had conceded their advantage. By three quarter time Melbourne were three goals in front and came out just over five goals in front of a free scoring final term.
Melbourne's best was Glass.
