Variants The LCS(S) was a British design that saw little or no service in the Pacific. The first 30 LCS(L) were armed as shown. The next 63 replaced the 3" with a single 40mm gun, while the remaining 35 replaced the single 40mm with a dual 40mm gun.

Landing Craft, Support ("Mighty Midgets") were large landing craft based on the LCI(G) but built from the keel up as fire support boats for amphibious operations.

All 130 units were completed in 1944 and the first units went into combat in the Iwo Jima landings.
