The Yugumos were ordered in 1939 and 1941 and completed in 1941-1944. They were essentially a repeat of the Kageroclass. One difference was that the main armament was mounted in Type "D" gun houses and could be elevated to 70 degrees, increasing the effectiveness of the guns in theantiaircraft role. In spite of their fighting qualities, none survived the war. Eight units beyond those listed below were planned but canceled.
