Priest, historian and hagiologist. After ordination, Father Alban taught philosophy and theology at the English College at Douai, France, and devoted himself to compiling The Lives of the Fathers, Martyrs and Other Principal Saints, the work for which he is best known. He was appointed to the presidency of the English college at Saint-Omer, France in 1766, and was also called upon to devote himself to active diocesan work.
