Galaxy 3C [Boeing BSS]

Galaxy 3C is a geostationary C- and Ku-band communications satellite operated by PanAmSat and later by Intelsat.

Galaxy 3C was ordered by PanAmSat in August 1997 from Boeing Space Systems to be built on the BSS-702 paltform. It provides service for North, South and Central America. Galaxy IIIC operates with a total of 77 transponders; 24 uses C-band and 53 will use Ku-band. The spacecraft was designed for an end-of-life power of 15 kW.

The satellite was launched on 15 June 2002 by Sea Launch on a Zenit-3SL (2) booster.

Galaxy 3C's C-band payload will be replaced in 2022 by Galaxy 35 under the C-band transition program.
