Irvine 02 [IPSF]
The Irvine 02 is a 1U CubeSat educational mission by the Irvine Public School Foundation to allow students to acquire technical skills in tracking and communicating with the satellite in the first year, then maintaining continuity of the program as new students enter the program the following year.
It will be one of the smallest CubeSats to fly with an electric propulsion system. The Irvine CubeSat STEM Program (ICSP) is a multi-year endeavor that directly impacts over a hundred students from six high schools and two school districts each year and engages the local community in STEM education, specifically space exploration, in a meaningful way.
It was selected in 2017 by NASA's CubeSat Launch Initiative (CSLI) to be launched as part of the ELaNa program. The satellite was launched on Spaceflight Industry's SSO-A multi-satellite launch on the ELaNa-24 mission on a Falcon-9 v1.2 (Block 5) rocket.
