Resurs-O1 1 (N3) [VNIIEM]
Resurs-O1 N3 or Resurs-O1 1 is the third earth observation satellite in the Russian Resurs-O1 program.
The Resurs-O1 N3, like its predecessors, was based on the Meteor-2 satellite bus and carried following instruments:
- MSU-E High-Resolution Multispectral Scanner (2 units):
MSU-E is a pushbroom CCD device operating in the spectral ranges of 0.5 - 0.6 m, 0.6 - 0.7 m, 0.8 - 0.9 m. Each instrument has a spatial resolution 45 m × 33 m and a swath width of 45 km for one device or 80 km for both. The observation direction of the instrument can be set by ground commands in steps of 2. - MSU-SK Multispectral Scanner - Conical Scanning (2 units):
MSU-SK is a moderate resolution radiometer with a look angle of 39. This gives the sensor the advantage that although it is a wide-field sensor, it produces constant resolution and viewing angle for all pixels, resulting in increased radiometric accuracy. It operates in five spectral bands: 0.5 - 0.6, 0.6 - 0.7, 0.7 - 0.8, 0.8 - 1.1, and 10.4 - 12.6 m. Spatial resolution is 170 m (in VIS) and 600 m (TIR). Swath width is 600 km. - RRA (RetroReflector Array)
RRA is an array of two corner cubes in a linear array. These are Fizeau style reflectors similar in design to those used on Meteor-2 21.
Resurs-O1 N3 carried an attached subpayload, the German Safir-1 communication experiment for OHB-System, Bremen. It tested a satellite based, bi-directional communication System for digital data transfer.
Resurs-O1 N3 remained operational for 6 years until the end of 2000.
On 27 August 2020, the satellite suffered a debris generating event.
