Taurus 1 [GUMUSH]

The Taurus CubeSats are a series of Turkish picosatellites developed as a collaboration between Gumush Aerospace and other key players in Turkey's space sector, such as TBITAK, Aselsan, and the Defense Industry Agency (SSB). They form a multi-band communication constellation and are the first Turkish picosatellites launched into a 45 inclined orbit.

The primary purpose of the Taurus satellites is to function as relays for Internet of Things (IoT) communications. They collect and transmit data from remote or mobile devices that lack conventional communication infrastructure. Additionally, the constellation gathers AIS (Automatic Identification System) signals to monitor maritime traffic and collects ADS-B (Automatic Dependent SurveillanceBroadcast) signals to track aircraft movements. The system also allows for future use in precision agriculture and smart farming.

GUMUSH Aerospace is responsible for the design and development of the Taurus CubeSats. The company employs 0.25U CubeSat-standard platforms with miniaturized communication and data-processing systems. The satellites use low-power, multi-band transceivers to support IoT functions and integrate specialized receivers for AIS and ADS-B.

The satellites are based on GUMUSH's standardized picosatellite platform n-Art following the CubeSat form factor standards. They include onboard computers, power distribution systems, deployable antenna systems, and solar panels for power generation. Communication systems operate in multiple frequency bands to support IoT data transmission. AIS and ADS-B receivers are installed to capture maritime and aviation signals in real time.

Each satellite carries attitude determination and control systems suitable for small satellites, including magnetorquers and inertial sensors. Data is stored onboard and transmitted to ground stations during communication windows. The satellites operate in low Earth orbit with an inclination of 45, enabling coverage of mid-latitude regions.
