James FitzWalter Clifford-Butler, 15th/25th Baron Dunboyne1

James FitzWalter Clifford-Butler, 15th/25th Baron Dunboyne was born on 20 May 1839.1 He was the son of Theobald FitzWalter Butler, 14th/24th Baron Dunboyne and Julia Celestina Maria Brander.1 He married Marion Clifford, daughter of Colonel Henry Morgan Clifford, on 12 June 1860.1 He died on 17 August 1899 at age 60.1
He was given the name of James FitzWalter Butler at birth.1 On 13 November 1860 his name was legally changed to James FitzWalter Clifford-Butler by Royal Licence. He gained the rank of Colonel in the 2nd Monmouth Rifle Volunteers.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Devon.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Monmouthshire.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Monmouthshire.1 He succeeded as the 25th Baron Dunboyne [I., 1324] on 22 March 1881.1 He succeeded as the 15th Baron Dunboyne, co. FitzWalter George Probyn Butler, 17th/27th Baron Dunboyne was born on 20 March 1874.2 He was the son of Robert St. John FitzWalter Butler, 16th/26th Baron Dunboyne and Caroline Maude Blanche Probyn.1 He married Isolde Butler Tower, daughter of Francis Fitzpatrick Tower and Laura Butler, on 26 July 1915.2 He died on 9 May 1945 at age 71.2
He fought in the Vitu Expedition in 1890.2 He succeeded as the 17th Baron Dunboyne, co. Meath [I., 1541] on 29 August 1913.2 He succeeded as the 27th Baron Dunboyne [I., 1324] on 29 August 1913.1 He fought in the First World War in 1914.2 He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy.2

He fought in the Boer War in 1900.1 He fought in the First World War in 1914, where he was mentioned in despatches six times.1 He was Colonel of the 2nd Battalion, Irish Guards in 1916.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1916.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1917.1 He gained the rank of Honorary Brigadier-General in 1922.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Devon in 1930.1
