Philip Henry Champernowne was born on 17 October 1859.1 He was the son of Reverend Richard Champernowne and Elizabeth Jane Keble.2 He married Katharine Theresa Vidal Radcliffe, daughter of John Alexander Radcliffe, on 6 April 1893.1 He died on 16 October 1935 at age 75.1
He graduated from Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He gained the rank of Major in the 5th Volunteer Battalion, Rifle Brigade.1
