Major George Edward Shelley was born on 2 February 1891.1 He was the son of George Ernest Shelley and Janet Andrewes.1 He married, firstly, Cicely Alice Colquhoun Bosanquet, daughter of Lt.-Col. Lionel Arthur Bosanquet, on 8 December 1920.1 He and Cicely Alice Colquhoun Bosanquet were divorced in 1935.1 He married, secondly, Hon. Lucy Gwen Atkin, daughter of James Richard Atkin, Baron Atkin and Lucy Elizabeth Hemmant, on 6 July 1935.2 He and Hon. Lucy Gwen Atkin were divorced in 1941.1 He married, thirdly, Freda Victoria Jefferey, daughter of Frederick Lincoln Jefferey, on 28 July 1951.1 He died on 7 November 1961 at age 70.1
He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow, London, EnglandG.1 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1912 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He fought in the First World War, where he was wounded.1 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of Major in the Grenadier Guards.1 He was appointed Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.) in 1938.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He was appointed Officer, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (O.St.J.)1
