Subdivisions Represented in FOTW

Belarus is unitary state and is subdivided into six oblasts and one oblast-level city (Minsk, the capital district). Oblasts are subdivided into rayons and independent cities. Although Belarus has many cities, just a few of them have independent status with the remaining cities have joint administration with the rayons. Furthermore, rayons are subdivided into towns, village councils, settlement councils and since 2005/06 the new entities called agrogorodok (rural townsite).
