Overview

The coat of arms of the Department of Magdalena was adopted in late XIX century, by a design submitted by local painter Alvaro Corvacho.

The following text is also collected on the official page: "The bands in azure and gules symbolize the integrity and firmness of the Magdalene soul, grounded in justice and loyalty (azure), virtues and characters that allow historical continuity to the liberating feat.
