Presentation
Ilha de Santa Luzia / Dja di Santaluzia (Saint Lucy Island or Saint Lucis Island) is one of the six Windward islands. It is one of the ten main islands that constitute the country as symbolized by the ten stars on the national flag; unlike the other nine, though, it is uninhabited.
António Martins, Nov 2025
Santa Luzia island one of two that is part of a municipality that spans more than one island: São Vicente Municipality covers both the eponymous nearby island and Santa Luzia. The latter however is not inhabited, so the matter of seeing a municipal flag as an island flag is moot.
António Martins, 16 Nov 2017
According to Sérgio Horta, Santa Luzia island was once previously administered as part of the Ribeira Brava municipality (on São Nicolau island).
