Harz County
Harz is a county in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. The county was established by merging the former counties of Halberstadt, Quedlinburg and Wernigerode as well as the city of Falkenstein (from the Aschersleben-Staßfurt County) as part of the administrative reform of 1 July 2007.
During the 1st meeting of the county council (Kreistag) of Harz County on 11 July 2007 new symbols were introduced by resolution KT I/0106 and became valid one day later.

The fish due to tradition had been in the personal arms of St. Peter, who was a fisherman. The knives are taken from the arms of former Quedlinburg County, and are originated in the Imperial Collegiate Church of Quedlinburg.
