Flag
Translated from <www.chordelegencantado.gov.ec>.
"The flag is made of three colours, green, yellow and red. Green and yellow covers two horizontal stripes, upper and lower, respectively. The laterlal left part of the flag is made of a red triangle.
Green means hope in the future, based on the fecund work of the farmers. Yellow means the golden shade of the canton's progress, represented by the work of the goldsmiths. Red represents and symbolizes the courage and pride of the inhabitants of Chordeleg who work in unity for its future and development."
Ivan Sache, 4 October 2008
The coat of arms and flag were created by Sr. Leonardo Orellana López. The official flag of Chordeleg is 107cm long and has a height of 94cm, though any size can be produced as long as it follows these proportions. The red triangle takes 1/4 of the flag's length. Being so unreasonably specific, it is no surprise that most flags in the canton do not follow the official standard. The adoption of the symbols ordinance is not known, however it appears to have taken place shortly after cantonization.
