Azuay is a province of Ecuador, created 25 June 1824. It encompasses an area of 7.700 km². Its capital is Cuenca. It is located in the south center of Ecuador in the highlands. Its mountains reach the 4500m above sea level in the national park of El Cajas.

Previously Reported WRONGFlag
W. Smith in 1975 and also my sources reported a white over red flag. However, this is incorrect, but it is possible that there was a flag change. The red over yellow version was reported in the 1980 Smith's book, but was marked as unsure.
