A new flag and coat of arms for the governorate were awarded in 2011. The Egyptian national coat of arms was removed from the flag and its name was set in golden Arabic script under the governorate's coat of arms, which was now moved to the center.

The flag from 2006 shows the national coat of arms of Egypt in red on top, below the coat of arms of the governorate: in red a golden anchor, the shield surrounded by a laurel wreath. The anchor serves as an indication of the location of Port Said on the Suez Canal.

The coat of arms appears in reversed colors from the coat of arms on the flag: a red anchor in dark gold (eg-g-psd).gif, attached).
