Introduction
Arete-Hime (Princess Arete) is a 2001 animated film. It's an intelligent, unconventional version of a traditional fairy tale. It takes a subtle approach, probably due to its literary roots.

The flag of the nameless kingdom the title character is princess of is shown a lot, and is quartered dark gray and mustard yellow, with a white border (a banner of arms, by the way — the coat of arms is also shown).
