Horten's coat of arms was approved by the royal resolutionb of 19 November 1907 after a drawing by Andreas Bloch.
The design symbolizest naval base that was located in the city. The rose refers to city gardens.

Åsgårdstrand is a town in Horten Municipality. This flag used to represent the town when it was a municipality between 1838 and 1965.
