Blazon: Delt av sølv og blått med omvend bogesnitt med tre bogar. In English: Per fess engrailed of three lobes argent and azure.
Approved by the royal resolution of 7 August 1987 after a drawing by Eldar Tandstad. [c2j88]
The municipal web site provides the story on adoption of the design. It was initiated by Ragnar Tennfjord in May 1983 for the municipality to acquire a coat of arms for itself. A public competition was held in 1984 and the design "Bølgje II" (i.e. "Waves II") was eventually adopted and approved.
