Fatal accidents at all Mines from 1908 to 1945, distinguishing the principal causes – Total number of Persons Injured, so far as reported.

(Based on the Annual Reports of H.M. Chief Inspector of Mines and NCB Annual Reports).

Note :- From 1941 onwards the figures of total number of persons injured relate only to mines under the Coal Mines Act ; previously they included mines under the Metalliferous Mines (Registered) Acts.

In 1924 and subsequent years, accidents which disabled the person injured for more than 3 days were reportable, the limit in 1923 and earlier years being 7 days.
