The white grave-flower A translation of the name simbelmynë, the name in Rohan for the small white flower that grew especially on the graves of Men. This association with the dead was the source of the flower's name - a literal translation would be something like 'everlasting memory'. In appearance, Tolkien compares evermind to the anemone, a small white flower growing among the grass. Notes 1 This flower's name conveys the idea that a person would be 'forever in mind' or 'never forgotten'. This association comes from the fact that evermind grew in profusion on the barrows or graves of Rohan, so it came to be connected with the memory of the ancestors of the Rohirrim.
