After the Darkening of Valinor, Tilion was chosen by the Valar to become the pilot of the Moon. Now he steers the last flower of Telperion across the sky, though sometimes by uncertain paths. Notes 1 Tilion's name, meaning 'the horned' is presumably a reference to the 'horns' of the crescent Moon (often poetically named a 'horned Moon').
