**Date:5 October 1982Location:Baku, Azerbaidjan, USSRType of event:irradiation from orphaned sourceDescription:**A cesium-137 source was carried by an individual in a clothes pocket, exposing several individuals. Five people suffered radiation burns and died; at least one other person suffered acute radiation sickness, and 12 others were exposed.
**Consequences:**5 deaths, 13 injuries.
