He was the son of Katsu Hy�z� I (the future Tsuruya Nanboku IV). He started his career as a disciple of Band� Hikosabur� III and his first stage name was Band� Taiz�. He made his debut on stage in the 6th lunar month of 1789. He took the name of Band� Tsuruj�r� in the 11th lunar month of 1799 at the Ichimuraza, where he performed in the kaomise drama "Utsukushiki Yuki no Sekai" which celebrated the sh�mei of Ogino Izabur� II. He stopped acting in 1815 and opened and managed a brothel in Fukagawa. He was named Naoeya J�b�. He joined back the Kabuki world in 1829, receiving the name of Katsu Hy�z� II and becoming nimaime sakusha and working at the Ichimuraza from the 3rd lunar month of 1829 to the fall of the same year. He became tatesakusha in the 11th lunar month of 1829 at the Nakamuraza where he worked, along with his father Tsuruya Nanboku IV, his adopted son Tsuruya Magotar� IV and the two sakusha Nakamura J�suke IV and Matsumoto K�ji I, on the kaomise "Kin no Zai Sarushima Dairi" [more details]. This was Tsuruya Nanboku IV's last work as he died the 27th day of the 11th lunar month of 1829 [1]. Hy�z� worked in the 11th lunar month of 1830 at the Kawarasakiza, along with Segawa Jok� II, on the kaomise drama "Ichiy� Raifuku Shibuya Tsuwamono". He also worked at the Nakamuraza, along with Matsuchi Sh�kichi, Nakamura J�suke IV and Nanboku Magotar� IV, on the kaomise drama "Oyobanu Ude Tsuna-ga-Kaomise" [4]. He died the 15th [2] day of the 12th lunar month of 1830 [3].
