Uriah Heep Announces Farewell Tour

British hard rock and heavy metal legends Uriah Heep has announced that next year, they will begin the "Magician's Farewell" tour, marking the beginning of their final plans to tour around the world. In a video posted to YouTube, guitarist Mick Box states:

"Hello there. It's Mick from the mighty Heep. And who can believe next year is 55 years since the band started, and that's just so amazing. I know many of you have been with us since the beginning, and we do thank you for that. It means the world to us.

"Unfortunately, we have made the decision to wind down touring the whole world next year under the title of Magician's Farewell. In fact, The Magician's Farewell.

"Over the next two to three years, we intend to play as many places as possible and see you all for the one last time. We will continue to play shows, but these will be limited to festivals and weekends and things like that. But the tour dates will be announced starting February 2025, so we hope to see you all out there.

"On behalf of the band and myself, I wanna thank you all for the continued support you have always given us. It means the world to us, and it means so much to us, and I just wanna thank you for that. Happy days."

Uriah Heep released their first album, "... Very 'eavy, Very 'umble" in 1970 and their latest, and twenty fifth full length album, "Chaos & Colour" came out in January last year through Silver Lining Music. Throughout their career, Mick Box has been the sole constant member, while vocalist Bernie Shaw and keyboard player Phil Lanzon have been the second longest serving members, having joined in 1986.

Unto Others Shares "Suicide Today" Video

Portland, Oregon's Unto Others spent their seasons in the abyss and arises from the other side with their third full-length "Never, Neverland," out now via Century Media.

The record is equally dry while never letting go of the energy and darkness that is Unto Others; one that owes as much to The Cure as it does to self-professed influences like The Sisters of Mercy and Iron Maiden. Simply put: this is the record where Unto Others prove themselves far more than just a one-trick, blackened steed, but instead, a band on the verge of something wickedly terrible and utterly timeless.

To celebrate "Never, Neverland's" release, Unto Others have shared an electrifying performance video for album single "Suicide Today." Gabriel Franco comments, "The song is about bad decisions, and how they can proliferate into a hard life, or a sad death. Living in a big city, you see a lot of sadness and despair. So much you can bathe in it if you want. I used to be fascinated with these things, and it comes out in a lot of our music. But I as I get older I am more interested in the silver linings that surround it all. The beauty of someone lending a helping hand, or a simple kind gesture. These are the ways one person can make a difference. 'Suicide Today' is a positive song. I hope someone who needs it can take something from it worthwhile." More...

The new album from Norwegian black metal monsters Mork was released yesterday on Peaceville. The album, titled "Syv," was written, performed and recorded entirely by Mork mastermind Thomas Eriksen.

Alongside the release of the album, Mork has shared an animated video by Matt Vickerstaff that hearkens back to the brutality of days gone by. About the video, Eriksen said: "How to settle an argument or a feud in the old days, fight til death. Two men on a small isle. The boat will only carry one man back. A historical theme wrapped in a simple and yet traditional sounding soundscape. 'Holmgang!'" More...

Threshold Singer To Miss Remaining 2024 Tour Dates

British progressive metal veterans Threshold has announced that singer Glynn Morgan has been forced to sit out of the remaining shows in 2024 following surgery. Taking his place behind the microphone will be former Power Quest and Arthemis vocalist Alessio Garavello. A message from Morgan reads as follows:

"Hands down this is one of the biggest decisions I never wanted to make. Being a singer and losing your voice is indescribable both physically and emotionally, and not knowing how long it would take to recover made it a huge gamble both for myself and the band for me to commit to the upcoming tour.

"I would like to wish my band mates all the best for the adventure ahead and a huge thank you to Alessio Garavello for stepping up and grabbing the mic in my place. Threshold fans are the best in the world so I'm sure he's gonna get a warm, loud welcome!

"Thankfully my voice is getting stronger day by day and I am now totally confident of a full recovery given time. A massive thank you to all those who wished me well and I promise I will be back!"

The 2024 tour dates are as follows: More...

Sunstorm To Release New Album In November

The AOR/Melodic rock quintet Sunstorm are excited to announce their return with their third album, "Restless Fight," set for release on November 22nd, 2024, via Frontiers Music Srl. The first single and accompanying visualizer, "I’ll Stand For You," is available below.

Ronnie Romero expressed his enthusiasm for the release, by saying: "I really love the new album! I believe it keeps the Sunstorm essence with an AOR base, but brings a fresh more guitar oriented and a heavier sound. The new song 'I’ll Stand For You' is the perfect example, where the melodies are still very important. It was fantastic to work with Aldo for the first time and I believe the fans are going to like the album very much!"

Sunstorm is a project created, overseen, and directed by Serafino Perugino, President of Frontiers Records, and it was originally designed to showcase a musical style similar to singer Joe Lynn Turner’s Melodic Rock/AOR roots. More...

The Dark Signs With Arising Empire

Los Angeles-based The Dark have signed with Arising Empire and dropped their debut single, "Chemicals," out now worldwide. You can check out the song below.

The band, fronted by Craig Johns Jr. with guitarist Alan Ashby (Of Mice & Men), alongside Derek Vautrinot on drums and Nick Goins on bass, are already making waves. Released by the independent label Arising Empire - home to metalcore upstarts thrown and previously to While She Sleeps - this debut signals a bold new entry into the heavy music scene.

"Chemicals" paints an apocalyptic vision of the end of the world through the eyes of two lovers. While the entire world is falling apart, two people choose to solely focus on each other and allow the world to collapse into ashes around them.

The band comment: “Influenced by 90’s bands like Nine Inch Nails, White Zombie, Fudge Tunnel and Filter, 'Chemicals' felt like a natural choice for our first single."

Singer Craig Johns Jr. continues: "It’s something I’m less than proud of, but this story of two lovers focusing on each other while the world falls apart… This comes from a very real place I’ve found myself in in the past. There have been times where I’ve wrapped myself in things like lust and drugs, rather than facing the harsh reality of living in poverty in a major city like Los Angeles. Sometimes it’s easier to obsess over what’s in front of you, an easy escape, whether it’s a partner or a substance, and end up willfully blind to the bigger picture. This band is our love letter to the dark side of our human nature." More...

The Gates Of Slumber Reveals New Album Details

Indiana’s True Doom Metal legends The Gates of Slumber return with a new album out on Svart Records on 29th November. The self-titled album is the band’s first full length offering since "The Wretch" from 2011. The first taste from their upcoming sixth album is new single "Embrace The Lie," an ode to the lying news media and political talking heads. You can watch the video below.

The Gates of Slumber was formed by Karl Simon in 1998. Various people were in and out of the group between 1998 and 2001, when the Blood Encrusted Deth Axe demo was recorded with Jamie Walters of Boulder on drums and Dr. Phibes/Athenar (later to form the cult black metal band Midnight) on bass. In 2003 Jason McCash took over the bass duties and was a long-time member of the band until his untimely demise in 2014, after which Simon decided it was time to call it quits. That was until 2019 when the renowned metal festival Hell Over Hammaburg wanted to bring the band back on stage to perform at the festival’s 2020 edition. Simon reformed the band with its original member Chuck Brown on drums and Steve Janiak on bass and got back to work. “We’d been asked several times to play Hell Over Hammaburg. But there was no “we” to play. The germ of the idea started. We started re-learning songs from the first LP. It wasn’t too long into the rehearsals that we started coming up with new songs," states Simon.

After a reunion tour was finished, Covid kicked in to slow down the process. Half of the album was already written but the remaining half took its time, and the songs were left to stew in their juices. With bastard heavy songs honoring the Doom Metal greats Saint Vitus and Penance, straight forward bangers, lyrics inspired by the Black Death and John Carpenter’s The Fog, The Gates of Slumber is a truly crushing album and a must listen to any Doom Metal fanatic.

Having toured with Pentagram, Reverend Bizarre, Cathedral, Slough Feg, Earthride, and Weedeater in addition to getting praised by Decibel Magazine such as "The Gates of Slumber have quietly gone about the business of becoming one of the best heavy metal bands in the world," it’s safe to say The Gates of Slumber play some of the heaviest metal on this planet. Stormcast Releases New Lyric Video

Cypriot melodic death metal band Stormcast has released a new lyric video for the song, "Ad Astra." You can check it out below. This is the first release from the band in six years and will appear on their new album, "Tremors In The Ether," which will be out in November. Speaking about the song, frontman Mike Angastiniotis said:

"Back in late 2019, me and the guys from Stormcast went back to the rehearsal room after a great summer run of gigs promoting The Ghost Eater. There was a general feeling of 'OK - the gigs were great and playing those 5-6 tracks was fun - but let's write something fresh!.'

"All four of us were (and are) big Rotting Christ fans, and we would often jam some of their well known stuff for fun... but there was this riff pattern that we just started playing one day that came about completely organically 'Dah Dah DaDa!.' It was like 'this could easily be a RC riff... but it just feels much more like a genuine Stormcast riff' - and we were all feeling it. Fast forward a couple of months, we had a brand new song. Not an entirely refined one, as it is now, but we did manage to play this live once already!

"This song is about a passionate, rebellious pursuit of freedom, self-expression, and purpose. The sense of urgency, exhilaration, and empowerment, encourages you to break free from societal constraints, embrace your true self, and chase your desires with fiery determination. I hope you enjoy listening to it

"P.S. While not a part of Stormcast anymore, Dinko Pehlic played a massive role in the writing process of this song. This one is also yours bro." More...
