Hydroplumboelsmoreite (original) (raw)
A valid IMA mineral species
About HydroplumboelsmoreiteHide
This section is currently hidden. Click the show button to view.
Formula:
(Pb,◻)(W,Fe3+)2O6 · H2O
The formula from the IMA proposal 21-C is "(Pb,)2(W,Fe3+)2O6(H2O)".
Colour:
red to brownish red; also yellow and colourless
Lustre:
Adamantine, Greasy
Name:
Originally named jixianite for the type locality at Ji Xian (= Ji County), China. It was redefined and renamed by the IMA Commission on New Minerals, Nomenclature and Classification (CNMNC) in 2021. The new name follows the nomenclature for the pyrochlore supergroup, with its relationship to other minerals in the elsmoreite group and dominant water and lead.
Originally named jixianite, renamed in 2021. Defined as having Pb dominant at the A site, W6+ dominant at the B site and H2O dominant at the anionic Y site.
Note: In the absence of a crystal-structure study, it is not possible to know the dominant anion of the dominant valence at the Y site.
Compare also hydrokenoelsmoreite (formerly ferritungstite, alumotungstite and elsmoreite).
