By his teen years, Aldean was heavily focused on music - performing at talent shows and fairs. With help and encouragement from his family, Aldean also began writing his own material. Aldean changed his name to something he felt was more unique than 'Jason Williams.' Aldean signed with Broken Bow Records in Nashville and released his first single "Hicktown" in 2005. July 26: Aldean released his debut LP Jason Aldean. The set included the singles "Hicktown," "Why," and "Amarillo Sky" and hit the Top 10 on the Billboard Country Album chart. May 27: Aldean topped the Billboard Country Songs chart for 1 week with "Why." March 6: Jason Aldean was certified platinum. May 29: Aldean released Relentless.
