The nickname 'Bruno' came from his dad in reference to a famous wrestler (Bruno Sammartino) with 'Mars' added to give his name 'pizzazz.' Best known for his solo hits, Bruno had an established history as a songwriter and producer before becoming known as a successful solo artist. When Bruno was 18, he signed with Motown Records after moving to California - but his hopes for becoming a star didn't happen. Bruno later acknowledged that his youth would have been a hinderance for his stardom because he was unprepared for what it takes to be a serious artist. Bruno joined the production team 'The Smeezingtons' (along with Philip Lawrence and Ari Levine) and helped produce and or co-write songs for Flo Rida, Brandy, Cee Lo Green, Travie McCoy,B.o.B, and K'Naan. 1985...
