The outstanding Romanian player, who obtained 102 international caps with his National Team, has entered the symbolic but exclusive circle of players with a Century of Caps.
He held the Romanian caps record from April 11, 1984 (when he equalled the total of Cornel Dinu; according to the traditional count of Romanian caps, this happened on June 14, 1984) until April 2, 1997 (when his total was surpassed by Gheorghe Hagi; according to the traditional count of Romanian caps, this happened on April 22, 1998).
