The outstanding Romanian player, who obtained 124 international caps with his National Team, has entered the symbolic but exclusive circle of players with a Century of Caps.
He held the Romanian caps record from March 29, 1997 (when he equalled the total of Ladislau Bölöni; according to the traditional count of Romanian caps, this happened on November 19, 1997) until August 17, 2005 (when his total was surpassed by Dorinel Munteanu; according to the traditional count of Romanian caps, this happened on September 3, 2005).
He holds the Romanian record of goalsfor the national team since September 10, 1997 (when he surpassed the total of Iuliu Bodola).
