Stringtown, Texas, Bell County ghost town. (original) (raw)

History in a Pecan Shell

From 1901 to 1904 the community had a post office named String. There was also a school (Dyess Grove) and reportedly two businesses in the early 1930s. Somewhere along the line people started using the name Stringtown for the community and although it has no distinct boundaries or appears on the state map, the Dyess Grove Church still stands in Stringtown.
