History in a Pecan Shell

The town was named for Tama Alexander, daughter of the first postmaster. The towns boundaries were Cowhouse Creek, Browns Creek, and Henson Mountain.

The post office opened in 1900 and mail was rerouted through Gatesville. The population in 1940 was a mere twenty-five people and two years later, the town was appropriated by the government to become part of Fort Hood.
