Today only Joiner Road is left. A dead end but a picturesque dead end.
Joiner Road is marked on Highway 71 between La Grange and Ellinger
History in a Pecan Shell
Joiner began life as a stop on the Columbus-La Grange Tap Railroad in the early 1880s. The town was a source of gravel and ties for the railroad.
The railroad connected with the Galveston, Harrisburg and San Antonio Railroad prior to 1899 when a flood washed away the railroads Colorado River bridge.
The community, such as it was, disappeared shortly thereafter.
Joiner road today shows ranching and dairy farming existing alongside functioning gas and oil infrastructure all in a bucolic environment.
